Teletext Service in Ghana

TV3 Networks, a private TV station in Ghana has premiered Teletext service in Ghana.

Viewers throughout the country can now access up-to-date news and other information, TV Guides, advertising etc. 7 days a week on a 24-hour basis by just clicking on their remote control.


The extended service operated by Teletext Broadcast Services Ltd. (TBS Ltd.) in association with TV3 Networks is completely FREE to viewers.


All what viewers need is to click on their remote control and the information is there!


Teletext, the transmission of text information through TV signals was invented by BBC engineers in 1974. Today viewers throughout Europe, Middle East and parts of Asia use the service daily to access News, Weather Report, TV Guides and Flight Info etc.

It has become the ultimate and desired medium for cost-effective mass communication.


?With the introduction of Teletext in Ghana, viewers in parts of the country without internet facilities or other media can still get up-to-date news and information on demand for free.?


According to the director of TBS Ltd., Geoffrey Osei-Bonsu, the service is also expected to be operational on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GTV) very soon.
