The choir performing
Ghana’s 63rd independence celebration at the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC had a different flare to it with the electrifying performance of the Tema Choir USA Inc.
The group gave a rendition of the patriotic song “Amansuon Twerampon” in the local Akan language to the admiration of all. A thundering applause exploded in the atmosphere when the song ended.
They also sang the Ghana and USA national anthems powerfully and the spirit of nationalism consumed everyone. Before the introduction of Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah to the podium to give his anniversary speech, the Choir entertained guests with many local repertoires.
The Tema Choir USA Inc. is the newly formed international wing of the Tema Youth Choir in Ghana. It is a newly formed group led by the founder of both choirs Mr. Ebenezer A. Allotey, a renowned musicologist.
Mr. Ebenezer Allotey is currently spearheading an ambitious initiative to explore how music and singing can feature regularly in assisted living facilities across the United States.
The Tema Choir USA Inc. was formed in November 2019 with a mission to create community, foster unity and build a better world through music. Comprised of singers representing a wide range of age, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, the Tema Choir USA Inc. uses choral music as a vehicle for bringing communities together in order to promote and create social change.
As part of the Christmas festivities, the choir visited a number of nursing homes to minister to the elderly residents.
On Saturday, December 28, 2019 the group had a mini Christmas concert at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Burke, Virginia. They ministered to elderly men and women who are often forgotten, stirring up joy in them and bringing smiles to their faces with the pleasant sound of the choir. Their presence and songs rekindled in the residents a hope that they were not forgotten.
They also visited the Tribute at the Glen Assisted Living Center in Woodbridge, Virginia as well and filled the atmosphere with soothing Christmas carols that brought joy to the residents.
