Edem Agbeviadey, a popular Ghanaian Hiplife/Afropop musician, was arrested on Monday by the Tema Police for a road traffic offence.

Edem, who was heading towards Tema via the Nungua-Tema beach-road refused to stop when he was signaled to do so by Deputy Commissioner of Police Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri, Tema Police Regional Commander during a nationwide road operation.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Region's Public Relations Officer told the Ghana News Agency that Edem refused to immediately stop when the Commander signaled him to do so.

According to ASP Turkson, the musician stopped a few meters away from the commander after Police personnel insisted he did so.

Edem claimed he was on his way to attend to an emergency programme at the Tema Women's Clinic leading to his hesitation to stop when asked to do so.

Inspection of Edem's car revealed that relevant documents especially roadworthy and insurance stickers were not available.

He was subsequently arrested and asked to produce the documents.

Edem who told the Police he had left the stickers at home, later produced them after which he was issued with a warning letter and released.
