Sixteen gorgeous ladies from various tertiary institutions in the Ashanti region including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are on the bill for the maiden Queen of Tertiary Ashanti (QUOTA) to be staged later this year in Kumasi.

The 16 would be reduced to 10 finalists at a special grooming for the showdown where they will be expected to market the region through culture, language, music and dance.

Among the representatives are those from Baptist University, Kumasi Polytechnic, Blue Cross University, Institute of Business Management and Journalism and Garden City University.

The Chief Executive Officer of Freshworld Entertainment, organisers of the event, Mr Evans Osei Zenith, said at last Saturday’s launch that the judges’ score would form only 50 per cent of the total score while the public through texting would constitute the remaining 50 per cent.

The winner takes home Gh¢3,000 while the first and second runners up go home with Gh¢2,000 and Gh¢1,000 respectively.

Themed: “The impact of today’s women in society,” the show is being supported by Herbal Life, a health NGO, Nipo fashion, Kevplus Studio and Ayo model.

The CEO said the contest was aimed at promoting the beauty of women and also help them develop their hidden talents for the benefit of the entire nation.

He said there was the need for women to be mentored to take up leadership positions in society saying, women were equally capable of occupying top leadership positions in the country.
