. The Ghana Music Awards Europe ceremony is geared up to fulfil all expectations and more at the prestigious Ocean Music Arena on Sat 29th Sept 2007. Within its niche, Ghana Music Awards Europe will seek to “Establish International Recognition for Ghanaian music, musicians, and culture”. This year’s Ghana Music Awards Europe ceremony is much improved with a live internet broadcast of the event, showcasing live performances from Ghana’s music giants and top musicians from the UK. The ceremony is expected to attract a live audience of 2,500 people and worldwide televised audience in excess of 1 million - via the internet and satellites televisions including OBE TV, BEN TV, Passion TV, and Channel U (All in the UK). Among its specially invited guests are politicians, celebrities, sports personalities and members of the diplomatic corps.

“The Ghana Music Awards Europe ceremony is the biggest and most successful gathering of Ghanaians outside of Ghana” – Sankofa Magazine Supermodel / TV Presenter – Ama K. Abebrese and the Ace Broadcaster – Abeiku Santana will host the night. Music Mogul Roger Robins, Film Legend Charles Thompson, Fashion guru Ozwald Boateng, Football stars Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, and Adebayo will all participate in the function’s festivities, making it truly the most glamorous Ghanaian event in Europe. There are a total of 19 public voting categories and 3 honours award. Nana Kwame Ampadu I will be awarded the “GMA EU Outstanding Contribution to Ghanaian Music” for his poetic and dynamism demure couture which is music lovers-favorite in Ghana and beyond. The “GMA EU Golden Voice of the Decade” went to no other person but the living legend Pat Thomas and this year’s ‘Life Time Achievement’ with an unconvincing total select committee votes, went to the internationally acclaimed traditionalist Agya Koo Nimo for effortlessly combining indigenous style of playing and unique talent. Oh Yes! Ghanaians in Europe especially the UK just can’t wait to experience yet another glamour and glitter show and the roster of musicians from Ghana and UK with its fusion of classic and contemporary acts which could be both spectacular and elegant. Invited performers include Batman Samini, Nana Acheampong, Kontihene, Kwabena Kwabena, Castro, King Ayisoba, FBS, Nkasei, Roger Robins, Lethal B, SWAY, Kwaku Gyasi, Esther Amoako and Kanko Arts, plus UK’s best DJs in rotation playing the best in Hiplife, Hilife, RnB, Funky House, and Soul Full Garage for the in house after party. A warm glow of having to see something memorable and wonderful seem to settle on the anticipated audience as the event draws closer, when asked why he established the Ghana Music Awards Europe when there is a similar ceremony held in Ghana, this is what Eric McKaiser – CEO and Founder GMA EU had to say: “Ghanaian music is the eternal bond between millions of others like me and our roots, motherland Ghana.

Over the many years I have been in the United Kingdom, I observed that it is the magnificent medium of Ghanaian music which is an enduring and lovable link between Ghanaians in the Diaspora and their folks back home. Be they following the latest stars and songs, or cherishing old classics, the music lovers in Europe and else where are in close touch with the song happenings in Ghana.

By staging the Ghana Music Awards ceremony in Europe, Ghanaian entertainers would get the opportunity to acquire global exposure on the greater level, and as we continue to live in a global village, break the norm of our 4-corner publicity for Ghanaian talents and acts not forgetting our rich culture which in the long run will attract investors into Ghana.

Also, audiences in the UK and worldwide will have the opportunity of seeing and partying with Ghana's top performers, most of whom are so far unknown outside of Ghana especially to our children born in Europe.

Ghana Music Awards among its many aims is to fund raise to support HIV/AIDS Orphans in Ghana.

Right from the conception, planning and execution of this mega event, my colleagues and I have, and will be leaving no stone unturned to make the Ghana Music Awards ceremony a glamorous and historic event with panache.

On this note, I would like to wish all nominees the very best of luck, thank God for his love and mercy, The Commission – UK and Ireland, and Sponsors for their massive support, and also extend my invitation to all in lifting up high the flag of Ghana as we celebrate our Golden Jubilee via the laudable platform of Ghana Music Awards Europe.

Thank you.
