Queens Block It is a promising year folks, considering that a new group in town by name Queen?s Block wants to prove that there is much to do in the industry. Rest assured, the group is gonna get bigger. Hear their names, Lyrically Born Killer (LBK) and Scratch Mama, straight out of Nima, Accra.

Yeah. All the salty gossip columns ran the line like they are the next Buk Bak. Some said they drew their inspiration from Nas and Tupac.

Lyrically Born Killer was born in real life as Ahmed Labaran to Mr. Ahmed and Mrs. Serena in Accra-Nima but hails from Prang in the Northern Region of Ghana. He had his elementary education at New Nation International and Boundary Road JSS. In 1995, he dropped out of school for some reasons best kept to him.

LBK started doing music way back in 1994. He was attending memorable shows like Fun World to watch some guys perform. Later on, he realised he had the talent and had the capabilities of doing something marvelous. He then went out to perform on a show which really impressed the audience and out of that he met his current partner by name Scratch Mama who was also carried away by his performance.

Scratch Mama also known as Christian Anim who hails from Akim Oda then thought of joining forces with him and then a deal was in the cooking. Initially the Akim Oda native but born and bred in Nima did not have that in mind that is getting into the game but due to some encouragements he later developed the love for it.

Christian Anim (Scratch Mama), a son of Mr. Anim and Mrs. Mary Johnson attended Nima Roman Catholic and State School in the Volta Region. He then proceeded to Ghanatta Secondary School but later left when he was in Form 2.

Their current ten-song ?Freedom? album is definitely set to see them claim scalps on the awards scene. In an interview with Ghana Music.Com, LBK explained why they named their album ?Freedom?: ?We?ve experienced so many hardships and trials. For Instance, we wanted to come out way back but due to some circumstances we couldn?t make it. We wanted to record with studios like CHM and Fredima but our efforts proved futile. In 2002, we were unfortunate because we were sent to police custody for a crime we never committed. We were there for about six months. After the six months, we were set free?.

?I (LBK) then decided to migrate from Nima to Darkuman even though the group still existed. That was where I found our Christ or simply say our saviour, MC Kwame. He (MC Kwame) featured me on his track titled School Life. So, basically that is why we called it Freedom because we?ve now been set free or better say we?ve got out of the hardships knowing for sure that we are going to seal through?.

Queen?s Block has lovely songs on the ?Freedom? such as ?Akyekyedee? (Tortoise), ?Yebebo Bra?, ?Ntontom? (Mosquito), ?Falala? (Brightness) and the likes.

?Akyekyedee? (Tortoise) which features Lilio tells the story of the hardships and difficulties they went through but due to God?s guidance they?ve come out successfully. Like the tortoise which walks very slowly, they are optimistic that bit by bit they are also going to make it big some time to come.

Following closely is ?Yebebo Bra? which features another hit star by name Shee. This is a love track which talks about a man assuring the wife that they are going to stay together forever.

?Ntontom? (Mosquito) is to be precise a real life story of how people pulled them back when they wanted to make it big those days. In this song, all those backbiters are being compared to the mosquito which doesn?t let people have a sound sleep.

Other lovely tracks are ?Falala? (Brightness), ?Panapana? which highlights on their life in jail, ?Queen?s Block? which talks more about the group, the title track ?Freedom?, ?Malile? (Where do I come from?) which is a blend of Kotokoli and Ewe language, ?Nigerian girl? and lastly ?Obaa Wei? featuring Phaze 1 and MC Kwame. All songs were recorded at Hush Hush Studios by tremendous engineers such as Phaze 1, Sammy 1 and King Cyrus. They are being managed by another maestro in the industry by name MC Kwame.

The group is in search of a producer who will help them come out big to compete in the industry. Infact, they?ve got the style, the lyrics and they are fascinating. They are good writers who make brilliant music. There are lots of directions for them to follow, and a big reason to expect a lot from them in 2004 by God?s grace.

Of course folks, they?ve conquered the general public with their cunning lyrics. Now the world is about to witness the transition of Queen?s block to the number one spot. Hiplife cannot be anything without Queen?s Block. So producers, this is your chance to become exposed to the music market and make money.

They are going to be one of the greatest entertainers Ghana has ever produced. No matter what people say, we cannot ignore them. What with jail threats for Queen?s Block all looming, the industry definitely needs a major shake- up.

Their soothing songs make them one of the best balladeers ever. Why don?t you call them on 233 24 4509435, 233 27 7827121 for more information. So sit back, relax and watch them as they roll in.
