The Perfect Picture Breaks Box Office Hits at the Silver Bird Cinemas

Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s, The Perfect Picture, a love story woven around the lives of three friends, broke box office records at the Silver Bird Theatre at the Accra Mall over the holiday weekend.

With new releases, such as Slum Dog Millionaire, which won eight (8) Oscars, Dragonball, 12 Rounds, The International and Marley and Me showing at the theatre, the demand for The Perfect Picture was so overwhelming .

According to Mr. Albert Mensah, General Manager for Silver Birds Theatres, over one thousand five hundred people travelled from across Ghana to watch the movie over the Easter holiday period. The Cinema will continue to show the movie until the middle of May 2009 due to the overwhelming popular demand. According to Mr. Mensah, “this shows that there is a locked up demand for good and quality produced Ghanaian and African movies, which SilverBird and Global Media Alliance (GMA) intend to unlock with the help of quality producers like Shirley Frimpong-Manso”. He further stated that the movie will be shown in Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi-Takoradi through Silver Bird/GMA mobile screens in the coming weeks.

Mr. Mensah further stated that the movie will also be premiered and shown in their theatres in Kenya and Nigeria and distributed through their film distribution company, Pan-African film distribution to other cinema houses. Global Media Alliance, parent company for Silver Bird Ghana, intends to collaborate with producers like Shirley Frimpng-Manso to develop more Ghanaian and African movies, now that they have managed with the help of their partners, The Silver Bird Group to set up a world class Pan-African Entertainment and Distribution Company.
