A drunken 55-year old man did not live long enough to enjoy his dinner of pork and light soup when he died as he was attending to natures call. Kwamena Eshun, a used tyre dealer, tumbled to his death when he was squatting on the concrete wall bordering the Odaw river to obey the call.

According to residents of ECOMOG-Odawna in Accra (an area between the Odawna Railway station and the Graphic road), Kwamena Eshun also known as Uncle Kwamena, left to sell second hand tyres on Friday May 7. On his way home that evening, Kwamena bought pork with light soup which he was to enjoy with hot kenkey. However, when he got near his residence, Kwamena decided to attend to natures call.

An eyewitness, Kwaku Atta also a resident, said while squatting on the concrete wall Kwamena fell back headlong into the river, leaving behind his polythene bag containing his soup. Kwaku Atta who said he and others were squatting with the deceased drew the attention of the police motor rider who was passing by and he rushed to bring in personnel

of the fire service to bring his body from the river. Some residents who have been residing in the area for between five and 10 years said the deceased did not visit his hometown.

The body of Kwamena has since been deposited as the Korle-Bu hospital mortuary, while efforts are being made to trace his relatives.
