Gyedu Blay Ambolley has asked Ghanaian musicians to sing about issues which will develop the country than the usual love songs.
Ambolley at a press conference to launch ‘The Me In You’ reality show on Wednesday at Mensvic Grand Hotel in Accra said love songs are easy to write and sing and that has resulted in its abundance in the music industry.
This was after highlife artiste, Kwame Zaggy had delivered a very awesome performance at the event singing two of his love songs. Comparing the current trend of songs to that of the 90s, he said the old songs talk about life issues and the society but the youth of today mostly talk about the body parts of women and how they love them.
According to him, these lyrics will not have any positive impact on the society. He mentioned Nana Boro’s ‘Aha Ay3 D3’ song as one of the many songs which flashed out of the system within a twinkle of an eye after it became hit because the artiste did not take his time in composing it.
He also accused the young musicians of not learning new things but copying blindly from the western world. Gyedu Blay Ambolley advised the new generation to learn from the legends to help them in their career.
