Multiple award-winning rapper and singer-songwriter Black Sherif has intimated that as his streaming numbers expand, so does his freedom to experiment with his musical creativity and surprise his following with each release.

Sherif was reacting to being the most-streamed artiste in Ghana for two consecutive years.

The "Kilos Milos" hitmaker spoke to Capital 1Xtra in London, UK.

Boomplay recently revealed that Black Sherif had accumulated 1 billion streams on the giant African audio platform.

"Those are part of the reasons why I really want to make music and see how far it gets. It makes me want to do more," the Hiplife act remarked.

The artiste, called a music innovator by Rolling Stone, added that the knowledge of hordes consuming his music worldwide "gives me a lot of freedom."

"There was nobody policing this music I'm doing. And I love freedom with art. I love to do whatever I want in the studio and see what it does for me," the Ghanaian star rapper and singer-songwriter noted.

Before a song comes out, Sherif intimated, "I need to love it."

"Iron Boy" is the name of Black Sherif’s upcoming second album. The name calls back to the days when, as a little boy, the Konongo-born-and-raised artiste listened to Highlife icon Amakye Dede, alias Iron Boy.

While June 2024's "Kilos Milos" is the latest solo from Sherif, he has chalked up subsequent chart-topping successes with two collaborations: "Lomo Lomo," with EMPIRE Africa mate KiDi, and "Jesus Christ 2" with rising star AratheJay.
