Though she is touted to be growing a big belly, Mzbel also known as Nana shocked fans last Saturday when she mounted the stage with what she terms a “new outfit that depict an African culture”.
According to her, the public outcry about her stage outfit, with some complaining that her way of dressing depicts more of a European culture than Africa has informed her new face.
During her pre show interview with TV 3 ‘Music, Music’ show host Bola Ray, Mzbel who is alleged to have been raped twice in her music carrier, was dressed in a long flowing black dress, but shoved the dress away immediately she mounted the stage.
To reveal her stylish ‘dipo’ outfit that reveals lot of flesh, both she and her dancers dressed in same outfit, wiggled their waists and moved their bodies to rhythms from her old albums including the famous ‘16 years truck’ amidst shouts of ‘do you like my new outfit’ to the audience.
Though she tried to be her usual self, her performance lacked the vigor and style she is noted for, a situation most people have attributed to her weight among other allegations.
She told the host that she has thought about various complaints that her outfits are not African hence she “choose this to look like one. My mother being from Krobo, I decided to choose this so I can look more African”.
Though her video for her latest album titled ‘kiss me’ is out and has danceable tunes, she was not dressed in a dipo style as viewers and her fans saw last Saturday or may be the dipo style is just for the stage.
