Music as vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion, is gradually becoming a loveable career in Ghana.

The music industry in Ghana has been taken to a different dimension over the past few years and has added a touch to our cultural heritage.

The patronage of music in Ghana has been on the rise, and so is the love for makers of the music.

One such individual who has won the hearts of many Ghanaians through music is the fastest rising artist in Ghana at the moment- Samuel Addo Frimpong- who is known in the showbiz circles as “Medikal”.

Medikal, an upcoming hip-hop, hip life artist is looking forward to becoming the biggest hit in the Ghanaian music industry a few years to come. The 21-year-old was born to Mrs. Porshia Lamptey and Mr. James Frimpong in Sowutuom; a suburb of Accra-Ghana.

Medikal who draws inspiration from Lil Wayne, Skepta (both of whom are international artists) Sarkodie, Paedae and Cris waddle, started his career rapping about primarily the hospital and what goes on.

He always said his rap was sick hence the need for medical attention to his rap lines. It was then he got his stage name “Medikal” which was given to him by his colleagues back in high school.

Medikal who started to make music in 2008 stated in his “by heart boy “ song how he used to sell his phone before he could record a song and how Unkle Beatz and his current label AMG Business and Chris Waddle has helped him to where he is now.

Since joining AMG Business Group, Medikal has been seen working with Cris Waddle on his “P3 kakra”, Bisa Kdei on his “forever my love” tracks respectively, and have released hit songs like “Anthem” and “Confirm” which has Sarkodie on the remix with his latest addition “free me” which he features Sarkodie, Mr.Eazi and Cris Waddle.

Medikal who sings for the youth mainly is hoping to reach the world with his songs and has been nominated for this year’s 4syte TV Music Video Awards.
