Popular Ghanaian TikTok star Asantewaa has admitted that the few times she has been seen crying in her videos were just for content and not out of emotions.
Asantewaa and her brother, Kayverli, appeared on the Day Show on TV3 where she shared insights into how she handles online criticism.
Speaking with Berla Mundi, Kayverli revealed that she rarely cries, even when faced with hateful comments or insults on social media. "She doesn’t really cry. She’s very strong," he noted.
Asantewaa admitted that the few times she has been seen crying in her videos were part of her content creation, showcasing her acting skills. "Oh, it’s just content. I can produce tears right now. I’m an actress," she explained.
Opening up about a video where she was supposedly crying while editing comments about her childbirth, she disclosed that it was just an act to bring awareness to the effects of negativity on social media.
"That was me in other women’s shoes. (I was trying to show) how people are when being molested. For me, I’m okay. But there are others. Someone might commit suicide and all that. So that was me putting myself in people’s shoes," she said.
However, Asantewaa also acknowledged that she had broken down earlier in her content creation journey, particularly, when she was coming to terms with the harsh realities of online criticism.
"That particular time was when I was now understanding... people would always be people. So, it was left for me to understand that that wasn’t the only time I was going to go through that. I would still face worse situations," she said.
