The youth urged make good use of their talents

Sunyani Aug. 14, GNA- Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, on Thursday called on the youth to make good use of their talents for national development.

He spoke against the youth engaging in alcoholism, drug abuse, illicit sex and other social vices, which he said could ruin their lives.

Nana Seinti said this in a speech read for him at the regional celebration of International Youth Day in Sunyani. The National Youth Council (NYC) organized the Day under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The theme was: "Youth in an international society".

The Regional Minister expressed regret that some of the were being influenced by foreign cultures and this had made them social liabilities.

"There is the need for parents, churches and the civil society to ensure that the youth are trained to become responsible citizens," he said.

Mr. Archibald Donkoh, Deputy National Youth Coordinator, explained that the day was set aside by the international community to reflect soberly on issues affecting the youth.

Mr. Donkoh said the disbursement of the national youth fund, a driving force behind the youth enterprise development, would soon take off and advised the youth to take advantage of it.
