Ho, Nov. 20, GNA - The Volta Regional offices and theatre of the Centre for National Culture (CNC) is to be completed before March 3, next year in time for the celebration of Ghana at 50.

Mr Emmanuel Sedode, consultant on the project gave the assurance when the Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi and some heads of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and chiefs inspected 13 projects being executed in the Ho Township.

Mr Sedode said about 70 per cent of work had been done on the 1,500 seating capacity theatre estimated to cost 2.8 billion cedis. He attributed the delay of work on the project to the re-designing of parts of the facility to conform to modern trends following the abandonment of the project by a contractor in 2000. Mr Sedode said the redesigned project re-awarded in 2002 took the needs of the physically challenged persons into consideration. He said the project comprised a cultural village and an open-air theatre making it a " theatre complex".

Mr Sedode said the major challenge facing the project was the work on the acoustic ceiling and expressed the hope that government would make funds available for its early completion. Mr Dzamesi commended the new contractor Wilkado Construction Company Limited for the progress of work and urged him to fast track it to meet the deadline.

Among the projects inspected were a 17.8 billion cedis office complex for the Regional Health Directorate, a new Regional Library Complex, a 19 billion cedi accommodation for tutors of nursing training institutions in Ho.

Others are a clinic for police personnel at the Regional Police Headquarters, projects in second cycle institutions in Ho and the Ho Township roads.
