2017 Miss Universe Ghana winner Ruth Quarshie, represented the country at the global version in Las Vegas last November, making it into the top 16 spot.

However, she claims in a recent interview with Accra-based 3 FM, that her biggest disappointment was the fact that she didn’t get the much-needed support from Ghanaians while at the international competition.

She holds that had she gotten adequate support in terms of votes, social media posts among others, she would have gone further and potentially brought home the ultimate crown.

Adding her voice to the issue, franchise CEO Menaye Donkor, who was also present at the interview, opined that if the Ministry of Tourism came onboard, the pageant would do extremely well both nationally and internationally.

She also pointed out that Miss Universe Ghana is still nascent under her, and she is nurturing it to attain the needed respect.

She added that the pageant is a perfect avenue to sell Ghana, such as marketing home-made wardrobe during Ruth’s stay at the Miss Universe house.

Menaye also stressed the lack of time to prepare Ruth sufficiently for the international contest as among her key obstacles.

Held since 1991, the Miss Universe Ghana pageant looks to serve as a platform to provide “tools which help women to be their personal best.”
