Ghanaian broadcast journalist Bridget Otoo has made some observations about some MPs as the 2024 general elections draw nearer.
In a post shared on X, the outspoken journalist has mocked and criticised the habit of some politicians repairing roads just few months before elections.
She said it has been six years since the roads in her community received any significant attention, but now there are signs of construction.
Bridget Otoo also pointed out that politicians often apply a quick fix dumping laterite on the roads just to gain votes, only for the roads to be neglected once the elections are over.
"Our very terrible road is seeing a facelift, with less than two months to elections. I thought the neighborhood had contributed yet again (as we always do) except I hadn’t been contacted. I was just told it is gov’t. But I can’t protest “two months to elections. They will put laterite on this road for votes and leave it to the rains…same cycle...lol,” she stated
She added, "I’ve been here six years. Every election year, the government comes and dumps laterite on this road, and after the elections, they disappear, leaving residents to fix it. They are back," she added, laughing at the predictable cycle.”
