Thomas Andoh, a 24 year old presenter of GTV’s weather forecast over the weekend took the title of Male Icon 2012 in a keenly contested event at the Kama Conference Center in Accra.
Thomas, a political science graduate of University of Ghana contested for the coveted title with other 9 contestants; Otis Kwame Quaicoe ( Painter/Model), Isaac Osei Debrah (Accra Ploytechnic), Anthony Mensah (Institute of Professional Studies), Osei Sebastian Apenteng (IPMC), Frank Nana Kojo Antwi (Wisconsin International University), Daniel Appoh (Creative Land School of Broadcasting and Media), Kenny Jim Parku (Direct Sales Executive), Eric Tetteh Ayertey (Graduate, University of Ghana) and Patrick Adjei Nketia (Marketing Executive).
Dubbed ‘the search for the perfect gentleman’ this year’s runner ups are Anthony Mensah Dzamefe as the first runner up and Frank Nana Kojo Antwi as the second runner up.
All ten contestants went through a presentation on various social issues of their choice after which they answered questions based on their own presentations. This was followed by talent segment and a fashion show dubbed ‘Cover Boy’ to test their fashion sense and creativity.
The number was pruned to 5 after the above rounds with Isaac, Anthony, Frank, Patrick and Thomas still standing tall. A compulsory question and why each of them thinks they should be selected as Male Icon Ghana 2012 decided who the winner was.
There were great performances from Jim 1 and hip hop sensation Gemini who shook the house with his electrifying stage craft. Thomas walked away with a trip to South Africa, a contract as a spokesperson for American based youth in Agric NGO, Truth X Vision, Television and Magazine appearances as well as heading a charity fashion show early next year.
