The much dreaded eviction time in Stars of the Future, probably couldn?t have hit finalists of the competition any harder than it did last Saturday at the University of Ghana, Legon.

Minutes before the names of the evictees were mentioned by Jessica, one of the MCs, there was dead silence, both on stage and from the audience. The tension that suddenly surrounded the 20 finalists could not have been missed by anyone, as they fidgeted and smiled awkwardly.

With hearts beating and watches ticking with unease, the 20 finalists were categorized into two groups Group A and B. It turned out that finalists in Group A? were free from the eviction while three finalists of those in group B? stood the risk of being evicted.

In the end, 23 year old Ruby Asamoah, a student of the Wisconsin University, 26 year old Anthony Simpson, a musician and 23 year old Raymond Sarfo Osei were evicted. 70% of the voting that determined who should leave and who should stay depended on the public while the judges contributed 30%.

It turned out that Ruby, Anthony and Raymond received the lowest number of votes from the public and this resulted in their plight on the night. Throughout the competition, viewers are asked to vote for their favorite contestant to stay via Areeba SMS number 1530.

Before the final competition at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday April 22, six more finalists of the music category of Stars of the Future will be evicted in subsequent weeks. Also, out of the five vying to be Ghana?s international comedy icon, two will be evicted alongside those for the music category.

In an interview with Jessica, still on stage, one of the evictees Ruby, said she did not agree with the public who thought she should be out of the competition, I do not agree with the public was her answer to the question of whether or not she agreed with the public.

On the final event at the AICC, six of the finalists will be competing for the title Music Star while three will do the same for the title Comedy Icon.

Winners of the competition, both in the music and comedy categories of the competition, will receive an amount of US $5,000 and $2,000 respectively, a recording contract for the music star, an opportunity to be used as an official Charterhouse or sponsors? compeer: LG Appliances, Beauty and Hair treatment at 2nd Image for a year and other attractive packages.
