‘Ties That Bind’ selected for San Diego Black Film festival

Film maker, Leila Djansi’s ensemble drama about three women bond by the common tragedy of losing a child, ‘Ties That Bind’ has been selected to screen at the 2012 San Diego Black Film Festival, on Thursday January 26th at 8pm Reading Cinemas

The San Diego Black Film Festival is one of the largest black film festivals in the US. It is held in southern California and it recognizes African- American movies and productions. The festival was founded in 2003, and takes place every year during the last week of January in San Diego, California. People from all over southern California and even across the United States attend the festival every year and in the year 2010, famous musical artist, Jay-Z attended.

There are numerous stars who attend the festival and is proven to be a popular event for the “greater” figures of the United States. The festival’s motto is "Spotlight on African-American and African Diaspora Cinema.” The San Diego Black film festival was created in order to preserve African American film and has succeeded in this so far.

‘Ties That Bind’ is a feature length movie about Adobea, Buki and Theresa, three women from different walks of life bound together by a similar pain; the loss of a child. In a destined meeting in a small village in Kroboland, the women journey together to redemption, love, life and forgiveness as they renovate a dilapidated clinic for the villagers.
