Tinchy Stryder and Sway will be among a host of Britain-based Ghanaians to be nominated for a Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) award at an exclusive launch party next week.
Premiership footballers, TV stars and journalists are set to attend the private function being held to announce a shortlist of movers and shakers from the worlds of business, entertainment, sport and social action.
The GUBA awards will celebrate 16 winners at a prestigious ceremony to be held at London’s Porchester Hall on Sunday 24 October.
Ghana Black Stars and Fulham FC footballer John Paintsil is patron of the awards show founded by TV presenter and entrepreneur Dentaa, who says:
‘There are many successful, but unrecognised African businesses operating in the UK, and during the World Cup we saw many people who were not Ghanaian supporting our national team.
‘The inspiration for the GUBA awards came from my desire to promote this culture of transnational exchange of culture and trade.’
Paintsil adds: ‘I love my country and supporting the GUBAs by being their patron goes hand in hand.’
The GUBA awards is also being held in support of Paintstil’s Peace Kids Project (PPKP) charity set up for African children in high risk conflict zones.
