A flock of Nigerian artistes took the centre stage at the just ended Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards at the Accra International Conference Centre, January 4, 2018 to showcase their musical prowess to the various dignitaries who were present.
About six Nigerian artistes performed while the host nation Ghana, sat on the edge of its seat to witness an almost ‘no show’ from local acts.
The failure of the organisers to put Ghanaian artistes on the bill has attracted some flak from some Ghanaians who are shocked by the blacklist the local musicians were given at the award ceremony despite receiving the nod to perform, notably among them was Shatta Wale.
While most of the Nigerian artistes performed throughout the awards night Thursday, Efya and KiDi opened and closed the show respectively.
Midway into the event, Mavin Records’ diva Tiwatope Savage-Balogun, known in showbiz as Tiwa Savage was called up on stage to display her feminine power after a host of Nigerian Male artistes including Phyno, Olamide, Flavour and Patoranking had already taken turns to perform.
She dished out several of her hit songs to the admiration of the audience as they chanted along with her.
Her creative performance won her the admiration of the masses present as she rendered hit songs including ‘My darling’, ‘All over’ among others.
Tiwa Savage ‘killed’ the night as the whole auditorium got lit up with her ‘girl power’ carrying along a singing audience with the magic of this popular tune.
The Nigerian singer was later joined on stage by Starboy Records CEO, Wizkid as they both performed their latest collaboration on the hit track, Ma Lo in Tiwa Savage’s EP, Sugarcane.
‘Ma Lo’ became the number one overall video on YouTube across Nigeria with stats shared by Tiwa’s Nigerian record label, Mavin Records.
