Top stars strip for free

Murky details about the controversial movie, ‘Heartz of Men’, which incurred the wrath of a lot of Ghana’s viewing public even before its release, have started making themselves palpable months after the movie was released, and its casts are still being bashed for their roles in it.

Latest information stumbled upon by NEWS-ONE indicates that after all the ‘insults’ and insinuations heaped on them, none of the actors who played the virtually nude roles made any financial gains from the movie.

The source said the entire cast, which included screen bad boy Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, John Dumelo, Jackie Appiah, Prince David Osei, Sika, Martha Ankomah, and a host of others, did the movie for free.

This, according to the source, was out of what was described as ‘sympathy’ for the director, Frank Rajah Arase, who was then in some sort of financial crisis.

The paper is reliably informed that for all their trouble, none of the stars received a dime, even for stripping naked.

This is however in sharp contrast to earlier revelations that some actors who were made to strip half-naked in other movies went home with fat purses.

“It is a fallacy if any of the actresses and actors in the movie comes out to say we have been paid, let alone talk about receiving huge amounts for the roles,” a deep-throat source revealed.

Efforts to get Frank to react to the story however proved futile as his MTN and Zain cell phone numbers could not be reached after several attempts. He also did not reply this paper’s text messages asking for his side of the story. Indications are that he may be out of the country.

It is on record that ‘Heartz of Men’ was released amidst a lot of controversy. While some movie enthusiasts called for its ban because, to them, it is too pornographic, others said they saw nothing wrong with it. Some of the casts also faced all kinds of humiliating descriptions.

Currently, the Nigerian director, who had directed a lot of Abdul Salam movies, is said to be back in business, as the movie sold more than any Ghanaian movie did in recent times.
