Papa She'ee and his supportive artistes indeed were incredible, splendid, entertaining, united and simply; "Funky Cold Medina".
International Music star, Papa She'ee's DVD launching was indeed one of the best and classiest indoor events to have been organized by a Ghanaian in the Bronx and also witnessed by many. Hate him for being over the top, but credit should be given where it is due and also if someone deserves a pat on the back, it feels right to do so. That is what every Ghanaian should be doing to each other.
The world had been anticipating the launching of "Touch the Sky", his latest musical video DVD. When the day arrived, "Cocoa House" was transformed into an astounding stage for performance, backed by heavy studio lightning and sound, with red carpet at the entrance and the VIP lounge which had 150 guests served with some of the best and expensive drinks. There were also several security personnel to make sure things went right.
The classy event began at about 12:30am and unleashed some of the most gifted homegrown Hiplife artistes from New York and they are surely going to be household names one of these days. (WATCH OUT FOR THEM).
While they deserve a huge round of applause for their great and energetic stage performances in supporting Papa She'ee, they also need mentioning. They included; Kwaku Nsronoma, Ahenfie Nkodaa, Akan Drama, Tommy Darling, 18 Cee, B Clay and Chippy (Jamaica). Backed by DJ Ronnie on the ones and twos.
Papa She'ee's good friend and one of Ghana's finest Reggae Superstar, Rascalimu (Jah Rastafari) who has performed alongside the best artistes in the Reggae industry was there as an observer but performed in support of his buddy.
Mr. Kwabena Manu aka Hon. Pancho, an MP aspirant for Nsuta/Kwamang/Beposo, PRO of the National Council (NCOGA) and Westchester County Government Union Representative had the honor of moderating the launching. Prior to that, the DVD was premiered on two giant screens which had the first DVD bought for a cool; $3000 by Kevin Atakora Amaniampong of Chicago.
Papa She'ee also felt his fans had been very supportive throughout the years and would not be fair not entertaining them with a performance on stage. He was incredible on stage and inspired many. He took the opportunity to offer his sincere gratitude to all involved in the production of the DVD and also his manager Kurt Johnson who was involved in a serious car accident, a year ago and almost died. The shy Kurt was inspired by Papa She'ee's words of praises.
The entire stage performance was produced by Hashim Haruna of Boogie Down Nima Productions who was also responsible for the stage production at the recent New York Picnic.
Daasebre Anane Amponsah, New York Asantefuohene, Nana Owusu Manu (Highly regarded spokesman, dubbed; the maker and the breaker) and Nana Abena Manu, the new New York Asantefuohemaa graced the occasion.
There were also representatives of some of the best Ghanaian companies in New York including; Beak Brokerages, Caesar's Tax and Brokerages, Kuwait Shipping, Family Link Transfers and numerous African Market proprietors
In an interview backstage with Papa She'ee and his manager; Kurt, both thanked the community for their immense support, they were inspired by the attendance. Kurt also mentioned that the production witnessed was just a little bit of the type of stage production his company; Concert X Group is involved; Stage lightning, Sounds and Video.
Papa She'ee, a prot?g? of Highlife legend; the late Akwasi Ampofo Agyei, whom Mr. AAA once called "Miracle boy wonder", also one of the favorite artistes of Ghanaweb Webmaster; Francis Akoto is aiming to be one of the best Ghanaian Superstars to be recognized by the International community. Superstardom is not cheap and easy, it comes with a price; HARD WORK and money spent on good productions and promotion. It is also in putting together the right formula and dealing with the best experts in the industry in making superstardom a reality. Gone are the days when he was accused by many as always seen at every event soliciting to perform. It has become a lesson learned and these days, it is all about a good management team behind him in the person of Kurt Johnson, great video director, Wendell Thomas and a host of other experts who are making sure he stays focused and concentrate on the international market.
