Obour & Bandana @ Atlantic FM
For the past 14 days or so, Obour and a team comprising some of the topmost hip-life acts including Batman, Tinny, Mad Fish, Bandana, Bak Tye and Castro have been touring the Central and Western regions as part of his 35-destination nationwide tour.

It started on a very impressive note on July 1, 2004 at the Brenu Akyinimu Beach near Elmina. Though the beach event didn?t record a full house, the after party at Berjaya Night Club, situated in the Elmina Beach Resort brought large droves of music lovers to an event the managers of the club later described as ?the best crowd in several years?.

The last stop in the Central region was at the Cape Coast Night Club on  July 2. At this particular show, the hall was heavily packed it completely rendered the sound and air conditioners useless. ?We couldn?t refuse entry into the club even when its capacity was exhausted because of the eager crowd.? the Club?s manager told reporters.

And if you are asking what still kept the ever vibrant fans to remain in the heat of the club, I think it was all about the fun. Almost all the shows started with Bandana who performed about three cuts off his debut album, ?Bandana From Ghana?. Then Castro and his dancers played about three tracks including a very fresh one. One thing about the tour was that all the artists on the bill exhibited very unique acts making it very difficult to determine who stole any of the shows. However, show owner Obour and dancehall stopper Batman obviously commanded the most standing ovation.

The Western region stops raved even more headlines. The talk of town was Tour Obour.com. The tour was professionally organized, well publicized on all the radio stations in both regions plus series of TV spots on Metro TV and TV3. Occasionally, one would find the large tour bus emblazoned with large advert of the performing artist moving all over town. This immediately pushed three songs off his latest album, Obour.Com [i.e smash hit Konkontibaa, Menwu Biom and Shine Ur Eye] on the playing list of almost all DJs in both regions- including reggae programmes.

Unusual among Takoradi folks, who never joked with their Sunday afternoon beach, Tour Obour.Com proved its prowess by staging the beach event at Paloma Beach on the evening of Saturday, July 3, 2004. The beach recorded an unbelievably massive crowd. As if that was not enough of Obour in the small town of Takoradi, the after party held at the huge 1000-capacity BBJ night Club was simply over attended.

Obour has since returned and planning for the next phase of Tour Obour.Com scheduled for the Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions between July 30 and August 8, 2004.

Tour Obour.Com was sponsored by TV3, Joy FM, Adom FM, Radio Gold and Ghana Music.Com in Accra and Skyy Power FM, Radio Maxx and Good News FM in Takoradi. Cape Coast?s ATL FM, Yes FM and Radio Valco and Mobile ?X also supported the tour.

MCs for the shows, which were patronized by a large chunk of radio presenters in the two regions, included Caesar and comedian extraordinaire, Efie Wura (Skyy Power FM) and Agastro of Radio Maxx. Western Region?s three-time best DJ of the year, Premier Gaou was present to entertain the crowd with good music.
