Tourism Minstry calls of Music Council of Ghana’s demonstration

Aforementioned last month, reports indicated that Music Council of Ghana was in preparation to stage a two-week demonstration aimed to out loud, sensitive issues in the music industry, but due to some reasons the demonstration has been called off.

The President of Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana, George William Dickson released a statement indicating why the long-planned demonstration has been called off.

Dear friends of the Media,

Because of the fruitful outcome of the meeting with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Creative Arts this afternoon 8th of August 2014, we see reason to call off the Demonstration scheduled for 14th August 2014 to find workable ways in collaboration with the ministry for the development and well being of all stakeholders and players in the Creative Arts Industry including music.

President Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana MUDAG

The demonstration which was originally planned to take off on Thursday, July 31, 2014 to Thursday, August 14, 2014 was later rescheduled to take off on August 14, 2014, a confirmed date given to its organizers after a meeting with the Greater Accra Regional branch of the Ghana Police Service.

The demonstration included affiliate music bodies like Veteran Musicians Association of Ghana (VEMAG), Association of Music Rights Owners (AMRO), Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG), Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG) and Composers and Authors of Music Association of Ghana (CAMAG).
