Trader defiles JSS pupil and escapes

Beposo (Ash), April 28, GNA- The Beposo police near Asante-Mampong are looking for a 24-year-old trader defiled a 15-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) student.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the incident, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Arzah, the Mampong Divisional Crime Officer, said at about 0730 hours on April 14, this year, the victim went to buy bread and fried eggs.

He said while waiting, Kwaku Adepah, the suspect, approached her and asked her to follow him to his house.

ASP Arzah said the victim obliged and when they entered the suspect's room, he gave the victim a mixture of soft drink and hard liquor and she believing that it was Malta Guinness took it. The Divisional Crime Officer said the victim became drowsy and Adepah defiled her.

He said those who saw the girl enter Adepah's room became suspicious about her long stay in the room and informed her mother. ASP Arzah said the victim's mother entered the suspect's room and found him having sex with her daughter.

The woman, he said, therefore retreated and went to the Beposo police station and lodged a complaint, but when the police went to the house of the suspect he had escaped leaving the victim on the bed. The Divisional Crime Officer said the victim was later sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where medical report confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.

Mr Arzah said the police have in their possession the blood-stained bedspread they removed from the suspect's bed and that it was yet to be sent to the police forensic laboratory in Accra for analytical examination.

The police are looking for the suspect, he added.
