There was commotion at the Charge Office of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service, as people trooped to see who was yelling at the top of his voice and tearing his clothing.

The man was a driver who had been arrested and brought into the station but fearing the consequences of his offence decided to go 'mad' a bit so that he could be released.

It took about half a dozen or so traffic cops at the station to overpower and bring under control, the now frenzied driver, whose shouts reverberated throughout the station and beyond. He had succeeded in feigning madness.

When finally the Station Officer managed to communicate with him, he told him that he was going to be sent to the Psychiatric Hospital to ascertain his health status and that if it was established that he was indeed mad his drivers' licence would be withdrawn because the law does not permit mental patients to drive.

At this point, the 'mad driver' decided to spill the beans: " I am not mad. I was only trying to behave like one to enable me get out of the police net."

The "mad driver" had succeeded in creating a scene but unfortunately he could not get out of the Police net. Not even the MTTU Commander could be left out of the laughter prompted by the gratis sitcom.
