Traffic, Ghana?s representatives at this year?s Nescafe African Revelation (NAR) grand finale, held in the Malian capital, Bamako, failed to get the green light as the top performers in the keenly contested event were not entirely off the winners? podium ? they came third.

Sources at Nestle Ghana Limited, organisers of the show told Graphic Showbiz that the group from Congo, SPY?DI won the NAR contest with their song titled, ?Ne t?en vas Pas,? (Don?t Go). ONEENS from Niger were the first runners-up.

The mammoth event, which took place at Bamako?s Modibo Keita Stadium, was attended by tens of thousands of people from across Mali and other neighbouring countries, the source said.

The massive crowd was treated to thrilling performances by top musicians, including Ticken Jah Fakoly, Les Go, and finalists at last years? event, Wutah, where more fire was ?pumped? into the show.

Last year?s winners, Praye, were there and according to the source, they were simply phenomenal.

Traffic were in the ?jam? with eight other groups from West Africa. The groups included ELDJI & SAMS?K from Burkina Faso, GENIES MAGICIENS of Cote d?Ivoire, Congo?s SPY?DI and FALABA?s Troup representing the host country, Mali.

The rest were UNION FORCE from Cameroun, ONEENS from Niger, SOUKOURATE of Senegal and Gabon?s NUVEL?S KADRON.
All groups composed a song for NESCAFE and it was performed in Acapella.

This segment of the contest is now known as Nescapella. They followed that up with songs written and composed by the groups themselves.

They received marks for voice quality, rhythm, lyrics and stage co-ordination. In sharp contrast to the title of their winning song, ?Don?t Go,? SPY?DI appear set to go places with their class act and according to the Nescafe Brand Manager, Ms Tutsi Goka, ?they will hit any where they perform?.

?I will bring them to Ghana and the other countries that took part in the contest to promote them. Members of the Congolese group have magical voices - they were truly fantastic,? she added.
