Accra, Aug. 08, GNA - The maiden Ghana Transport and Logistics awards to honour excellence and innovation in transport business was launched in Accra on Tuesday.
The awards scheduled for Friday, October 27 would honour passengers, freight forwarders, logistic providers, automobile insurance companies, garage operators and public sector transport operators. It is being jointly organised by Management of Yetron Services, an advertising company and Ministries of Transportation, Aviation, Ports and Railways.
Professor Samuel Tetteh Addo, a Lecturer of the Department of Geography and Resource Development, University of Ghana, launching the awards said it would enhance efficiency, improve productivity, quality service and personnel in the transport sector. He said poverty reduction and creation of wealth could not be achieved without improvement in the transport sector, as well as sustaining quality transport services without motivating key stakeholders.
Prof. Addo noted that the awards would serve as an impetus to modernize the sector to cope with the increase in passenger and freight movement for stakeholders to perform better.
