Trigga Berma is a new “kid” on the hiplife block and his maiden album 'Ma Wani Mbere' is doing well.
His baritone voice coupled with his style of rapping reminds one of the late American rapper,Tupac Amaru Shakur who was notoriously associated with acts of violence, drug abuse and other heinous crimes.
Trigga Berma however, stands for peace and said he only loves Tupac for some of his soul inspiring songs like That’s the way it is, Baby don’t cry and Thugs also cry because they have encouraging messages for the underprivileged in society and these actually inspired the writing of Ma Wani Mbere which preaches about perseverance.
His real name is Nicodemus Batse and comes from a home of five children of which he is the last. His parents, Mr. Vincent and Mrs Deborah Batse were against his desire of becoming a hiplife musician but no one could change his decision, and this album is the result of his unflinching determination.
Ma Wani Mbere is the first song on the album. This song features K.K. Fosu and Osaheneboga who sing and rap beautifully.
The lyrics are quite motivational and he says that this song is reminiscent of the hardships he went through before coming into the limelight.
Trigga Berma had to abandon his education during his second year at secondary school due to family problems and stayed away from home for two years, an unpleasant experience for him.
Fortunately he met Linda, a friend, who introduced him to Omar and Rabi, Lebanese twins who are also his producers. They sponsored his education and the release of his album.
One track on the album which tackles a serious social issue in a hilarious mode is Police Station.“ Nkwasia sem nti na yesi Police station”, he says. The message is that the police must always let true justice prevail in their duties.
Barosky, the raga artist on Ofori Amponsah’s 'Otoolege' song does a different thing in Trigga Berma’s Police Station and Makoma, a love song; he sings on these tracks instead of doing his normal raga thing.
