For driver Albert Narh, it was business as usual on December 1, as he plied the Tema-Ashaiman route with his tro-tro until he was given a shock by his mate dramatically bolting away with the day’s earnings.

As the 207 Benz tro-tro stopped at the Ashaiman traffic light, the mate, Kwaku Boakye, jumped out of the bus and made away with the ¢600,000 sales.

Boakye did not surface again until he was arrested at his hideout at Tulaku, near Ashaiman, the TDC Magistriste’s Court was told.

Boakye, 23, is charged with stealing to which he pleaded guilty.

However, he explained that the amount was "only ¢400,000 and not ¢600,000" as his master had claimed.

He was remanded into custody until January 22, for sentencing.

Prosecuting, Inspector Francis K. Bordoh, told the court that on December 1, Mr. Narh engaged the services of Boakye as a mate for the day, from 6.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

After he bolted with the day’s sales, Mr. Narh made a report to the police who subsequently arrested Boakye on December 9.
