Two Ms. Malaika contestants have withdrawn from the contest on the advice of their parents. Their withdrawal coming weeks after the organisers have completed screening and selecting the final twenty, affected the planned start of the TV eviction series.

One of the delegates, Christina, reportedly decided to get out of the Ms Malaika house because her parents did not take kindly to her participation in the pageant. The other dropout, Afi, is quoted as saying that the competition would conflict with her studies.

Afi and Christina’s decision has not gone down well with the organisers of the pageant. But it provided a respite for the other delegates, who were spared the agony and anxiety of the evictions, which were scheduled to begin over the weekend.
