Accra Sept. 23, GNA - Two persons, who allegedly collected 233 million cedis from 57 individuals under the pretext of providing them with accommodation on Tuesday appeared before the Madina District Magistrate Court.

Alhaji Mohammed, a 45-year-old foreman, and Felix Entsie a 37-year-old estate developer, have been charged with conspiracy and defrauding by false pretences.

Mohammed and Entsie, whose pleas were not taken, have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on September 30. The facts are that Mohammed and Entsie reside at Abeka Lapaz while Mr Emmanuel Honest Abbey, owns a storey building situated in the same area.

When the house became vacant following the ejection of previous tenants Mohammed approached the landlord that he wanted to rent the house and was given the keys to go and inspect it.

The Prosecution said in May this year, Mohammed placed an advertisement in the newspapers and this attracted various tenants. Prosecution said prior to that Mohammed planted Entsie in the house ostensibly to renovate it and in the process the two collected 233 million cedis from 57 prospective tenants to whom they issued receipts but failed to provide them rooms.
