Wa (UWR), June 11, GNA - Wa Circuit Court on Thursday, convicted a Typist of the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, for defrauding two businessmen of a total amount of 965,000 cedis under false pretences.

Paul Zubure, 47, pleaded guilty to fraud and was fined one million cedis or in default, 12 months imprisonment in hard labour. Chief Inspector of Police, Stephen Dobara told the Court presided over by Alhaji Mohammed Mustapha, that in December last year, the accused person visited the shop of Mr Augustine Sarfo Kantanka and collected three half pieces of wax prints valued at 640,000 cedis with the intention to supply them to his co-workers and pay later. Zubure however failed to honour his promise and started playing hide- and-seek.

Chief Inspector Dobara said the accused person used the same modus operandi to collect provisions worth 325,000 cedis from Prince Morgan Enterprise belonging to the second complainant, Mr Francis Wauku. 11 June 04
