The commemorative event for the 61st anniversary of the passing of American sociologist Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois was held on Wednesday, August 27, 2024, at the Du Bois Centre in Accra.

The event was attended by dignitaries and celebrities, including the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer; the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey; rap icon E.L.; veteran actress Akofa Edjeani Asiedu; and the CEO of the National Film Authority, Juliet Asante.

One of the highlights of the event was the meeting between the U.S. Ambassador and E.L. The ambassador was ecstatic when she spotted the rap icon, who was dressed in brown attire and a black cap.

Known in real life as Elom Adablah, E.L. won the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. The ‘Koko’ rapper is currently out with his album BAR 7.
