The late Nigerian Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad
The management of the National Medical Services Laboratories in Pennsylvania, United States of America, has denied the claim made by the Lagos State Government regarding the toxicology test conducted to determine the cause of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba's, also known as Mohbad, death.
The response from NMS Labs came following investigations to uncover the circumstances surrounding the musician’s demise.
Prior to this investigation, concerned members of the public protested against statements made by a pathologist in the Coroner’s Court on Wednesday, May 15.
The pathologist had claimed that an autopsy failed to determine Mohbad’s cause of death due to the decomposition of his corpse.
According to previous reports, the counsel for the state government, O. Akinde, informed the Coroner’s Court in November 2023 that a toxicology test, integral to determining Mohbad’s cause of death, was conducted in the United States.
Supporting this assertion, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated during a live telephone call with Ahmad Isah, the host of the Abuja-based online program Brekete Family in February 2024, that the toxicology test was carried out at the NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, USA.
“The matter is being handled by the state DNA and Forensic Centre, but they are doing skeletal services, and they have affiliate centres which are three.
“So, if there is an emergency like this one that we have, they will not say they cannot handle it. So, there are three of them in the US and the one handling this particular one is the NMS in Pennsylvania, USA,” Omotoso said during the live program.
It was reported that the test results arrived in Nigeria in April 2024 and were passed on to a pathologist for interpretation.
