It's no secret that legendary Ghanaian Playwright Uncle Ebo Whyte has left an indelible mark on the country's creative arts sector.

But his exploits are not just confined to the stage. Ebo Whyte has also changed the lives of those lucky enough to be around him.

The family driver for the Whyte Family, Kwesi Preko, has shared a touching story about the renowned playwright.

In an interview with GhanaWeb TV for the documentary "The Uncle Ebo Whyte Story: A Legacy of Inspiration & Creativity," Kwesi Preko, who often drove Uncle Ebo's wife around when they resided at Teshie, was introduced to the playwright after nearly a year of working for her.

"I used to be a taxi driver at Obraa spot and lived at Teshie Nungua, his wife also lived there. I usually drive his wife around. After almost a year of working for her, she introduced me to uncle and spoke highly of me. That was the first time I met him," he shared.

When his car developed a faulty engine, he had to borrow a vehicle to continue working.

Unbeknownst to him, Uncle Ebo Whyte had noticed the new development and had plans for him,

"He asked me about the car, so I told him that I had an engine issue. He later invited me to his office and gave me a check to go to Abossey Okai to get the parts necessary to fix my engine," he said.

Fast forward, Kwesi Preko is the family driver for the Whyte's. He expressed gratitude, highlighting Uncle Ebo Whyte's kindness and support during a challenging time.

This act of generosity by Uncle Ebo Whyte is not surprising to those who know him, as they all have testimonies of his compassion and willingness to help others in need.
