The Circuit Court "B" at Takoradi on Thursday remanded Yusif Agidi, a 30-year-old unemployed for unlawful entry, stealing and attempted rape. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on 5 January 2005.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Gabriel K. Agbemavah told the court presided over by Mr. Henry Kwofie that on 17 November this year, around 2 am, the complainant, Theresa Yourizun, a hairdresser was asleep in her room at the Kwesikum road a suburb of Takoradi.
He said due to the warm weather, the complainant did not lock her windows and the accused allegedly jumped into the room through one of the windows by removing the mosquito net.
Inspector Agbemavah said the suspect ransacked the room and took the victims Nokia 2100 mobile phone valued at 1.2 million cedis and cash of 200,000 cedis.
According to the prosecutor, Agidi then jumped on the victim who was still asleep and attempted to rape her but her shouts for help attracted people to the house.
Inspector Agbemavah said the suspect sensing danger fled through the window.
He was however arrested two days later at Zenith a popular spot in Takoradi by the victim with the help of some neighbours and handed over to the police.
