The board of the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has admitted that it did not do due diligence before nominating rapper Teephlow in three categories.

Three of Teephlow’s four nominations were revoked after a section of the public raised concerns that, “The Warning”, the song which earned him those nominations was released in April 2014 and not 2015 – the year under review.

Nii Ayitey Hammond, a member of the board speaking on Peace FM‘s Entertainment Review Saturday conceded that the board erred in that regard.

When asked if the board accepts blame for the blunder, he answered, “We do. Obviously we expected our research team to have spotted this. so if they didn’t and we went ahead and put it out, we would accept it and that was why we corrected it.”

He added, “It was a mistake and nobody plans a mistake. To be very honest, the research team spited so many things and cleared out of the list we got. it’s unpardonable but we accept it and we have changed it.”

The categories which were revoked were Best Rapper of the Year, New Artiste of the Year and Hiphop Song of the Year. His Best Music Video of the Year nomination however holds.
