Sound Engineer/Entertainment critic Justice Oteng of Drum Lyne Studios known in showbiz circles as Wei Ye Oteng, has eulogised organisers of most prestigious award scheme in Ghana, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) as a brand that seek to acknowledge musicians work.
According to Oteng, though the award scheme is fraught with issues yet it values the effort of artistes.
He added that there in as much as there are controversies surrounding every award scheme, he’s confident the VGMA awards will get better with time.
Speaking about what he would suggest be done to spruce up the VGMA, the versatile music producer indicated that he would suggest the organisers listen to the people on the streets and also and try as much as they can to reduce doubts about some of their activities.
“They should try to put their ears to the ground and listen to the people on the street and make our award as credible as they can. I know there are issues everywhere but they should try to minimise them,” Oteng told Citi FM.
Oteng has produced legends like Obrafour, Trigmatic, Nii Soul, Manifest, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie, KK fosu, Double, Kwame A Plus, Barima Sydney and many more.
He won Record of the Year at the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) with Wosi Nti and confident of grabbing the 2017 Producer of the year. He was also nominated in the sound Engineer of the year category.
Oteng will be competing with Nacee, Kill beatz, Kuvie and Akwaboah in the producer of the year and the Sound Engineer of the year category.
