Swedru-based Patapaa Amisty has become a subject of discussion on social media following his appearance on the red carpet at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The “One Corner” hitmaker subjected himself to public ridicule when he turned up at the 19th edition of the event at the Accra International Conference Centre in a 'seemingly' over-sized suit and red tie accessorized with a black shoe.
Patapaa rose to fame in 2017 following the release of his first single.
The “One Corner” song went viral to the extent of crossing the shores of Ghana thanks to the crazy, sensual dance which accompanied it.
The artiste was recently ‘mocked’ for his efforts on the ‘Akwaaba’ song for which a section of the public labelled him as a ‘wack’ emcee following his repetitive ‘olalee’ line.
'Olalee, olalee, olalee, Ooalee, ashe wo eee, ashe wo eee, wobete bom, pat-pat-kelenken' he sang.
However, he managed to change the narrative when he teamed up with Shatta Wale, Feli Nuna, Quabena King and Riddim Boss on ‘Bodyfibody’.
Patapaa has been nominated in the Most Popular Song and Hiplife song of the year category for his “One Corner” hit song.
Unfortunately he left the 2018 VGMA's disappointed as he was expecting to win at least one of the awards but the Most Popular Song of the Year Award went to Fancy Gadam.
Meanwhile Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, the late Ebony, rapper Sarkodie and Joe Mettle are all up for the coveted Artiste of the year award.
Ebony has however been tipped by industry to most likely win Artiste of the year despite her untimely passing early this year.
Organized by Charterhouse Ghana, and sponsored by Vodafone, the Ghana Music Awards is an award scheme designed to recognize, celebrate the hard work and dedication of various stakeholders and players in the entertainment industry.
