Popular Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Epixode has lashed out at organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse for selecting only four reggae dancehall artistes Ebony, Mzvee, ShattaWale, Stonebwoy) to feature on the nomination list.

According to him, the Reggae Dancehall category should have more nominee slot than any other genre considering the fact that there are plenty of Ghanaians including himself currently doing well under dancehall music.

‘Disappointed’ Epixode says all successful shows in Ghana so far have been headlined by at least one dancehall artiste, hence, Charter House’s reason for side-lining majority of them is inconsiderable.

‘’Ghana saw so many dancehall artistes both local and international. If they are able to put more than five or six names under one category why would they just limit reggae and dancehall to three or four? Does it mean that they have a number of artiste who need to be there? I was disappointed not for myself alone but for reggae dancehall.”

“I think its disrespect. Where were they when dancehall was in the ghetto? Nobody spoke about it but these same people came celebrating dancehall when it became big’’.

“Book stadium and put one or two dancehall artistes there, the place will become full-up. How many hip-life artistes have been able to do this for the industry? It should have more categories than the restof them,’’ he emitted

Charterhouse the organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards announced the nominees for the 19th edition of the VGMAs last week.

As a highly-anticipated event on the music calendar, the ceremony seeks to reward outstanding Ghanaian musicians in the year under review.

This year’s prestigious event will take place at the Accra International Conference Center on April 14.
