Vision In Progress (VIP) last Saturday won the most popular hiplife/hiphop musical group on the African continent at an awards night organised by Nigerian Magazine, Hiphop World Magazine.

The group which has staged series of live musical concerts in Nigeria has managed to carve a niche for itself on the Nigerian music scene.

Its stage-craft and style of performance has won the hearts of many music lovers in Nigeria and Ghana.

Conquering the showbiz industry in Nigeria with their lyrics and dynamism on stage, VIP has become a household name to most Nigerians.

They have claimed the top spot on Nigerian local charts, displacing Nigerian music Celebes.

In 2004, the hiplife trio swept five awards at the Ghana Music Awards, and in the same year, won an award at the Channel O Africa Video Music Awards as the Best Group in Africa.

The group, which shot its way onto the music scene in Ghana in the early 1990s, defied all odds and made it on the local scene.

Many did not give the members of the group the chance of making it because of their background. However, with perseverance and a strong will to reach the top, the group, made up of Lazzy, Promzy and Prodigal, managed to make it not only in Ghana, but the entire African continent as well.

The excellent stage-craft of the musical trio was re-enacted recently in far away South Africa when they performed at the prestigious KORA All Africa Music Awards.

They represented Ghana, having emerged Artistes of the Year.
Information reaching Beatwaves indicates that so excellent was the group?s performance that several top record companies on the continent and beyond have expressed interest in them, via their hardworking producers, Goodies Music Production.

Indeed, VIP managed to raise high the flag of Ghana when it performed in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo, among others.

The VIP story really began in 1996 when they released their maiden album titled ?Bibi Ba? with fascinating tracks like ?Rana Sala?, ?Mama Kwan? among several others.

This was followed by ?Yede Aba?, with hit songs including ?Zo Mu Wasa?, ?Oba Sweetie? and ?Money Lover?.

The real success story of the ?Pride of Nima? began when they signed onto the Goodies Record label and released their album with the popular song ?Daben Na Odo Beba?. During the 2002 edition of the Ghana Music Awards, their song was nominated for Hiplife Rap Music of the Year.

In 2004, VIP became the envy of all when they swept five awards at the Ghana Music Awards with their hit album ?Ahomka Womu?.
