Ghana?s biggest street party, dubbed ?Accra?s Vibrant Street Carnival 2005? an annual international Street Festival organized by Vibe 91.9 Fm, is in the offing this year at its usual venue, the Osu Oxford Street.

In an interview with Benjamin Kwame Tawiah, the Marketing Manager of the Vibe FM, he said, the Vibrant Street Carnival was established in 1998 by the current Chief Executive, Michael Cooke, to create a major street party in Africa, enhance cultural sharing between different regions and countries and to be a showcase for national and international culture and entertainment.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA); the Mayor of Accra; The Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Board have all endorsed ?Accra?s Vibrant Street Carnival? as making an important contribution to the attraction of Ghana and the sub-region by creating a popular event that appeals to everyone and generates revenue for the commercial city of Accra by stimulating the local economy.

Mr. Tawiah reiterated the current state of the station, saying Vibe FM is a local radio station in the nation?s capital, Accra, with a cult following whose on air personalities command a strong influence on its listenership, hence the stations unbeatable strength in strong campaigns, special events and advocacy such as Accra's Vibrant Street Carnival, Salafest (an annual festival in November after Ramadan, for the Muslim community in Ghana and beyond), Buy made in Ghana Campaign (a special advertising campaign on the Vibe FM to lift local manufacturers up to where they belong), Radiothon (fundraising event to raise $1,000,000 USD for Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital) and the Nationwide Youth Agricultural Camp Programme. He said Vibe FM success can be said to fall on its impressive mix of creative personnel and an effective marketing strategy. Mr. Tawiah revealed the Carnival theme for this year as ?A CELEBRATION OF CULTURE? which aims to celebrate the peace, energy, vibrancy, tradition, colour and culture of the Ghanaian and West African sub regional.

Shake your body to exotic music from live acts and some of Ghana?s top club and radio DJs; sample delicacies from India, China and the Caribbean as well as our delicious local food and drinks and pick up your African arts and crafts from the number of stalls that will be lined up and down the streets of Osu, at Accra?s Viberant Street Carnival? between December 31st 2005 and January 2nd 2006 and experience carnival African style, from the colourful floats to the masqueraders.

Accra?s Vibrant Street Carnival? is a fun filled celebration that has become a major tourist attraction for the whole family. Children have all their Fun! Fun! Fun at the Children?s Village where they become creative - painting their faces, jumping on bouncy castles, eating ice cream, candy floss etc? There?s only one way to end this year and welcome the new one at Accra?s Vibrant Street Carnival from 31st December 2005 to 2nd January 2006.

Vibe FM has been transmitting a concept that is new to radio, from its new offices, 3rd Floor, Pyramid House, on the Ring Road Central, Accra. Meanwhile, Vibe Fm will use this year?s carnival to announce its preparations towards next year?s Tenth anniversary celebrations in solid broadcasting, in April.
