The Volta Region’s finest Ewe gospel musicians are to be awarded on Friday, December 2, at the Ho Polytechnic Auditorium.
Five nominees have been shortlisted out of 55 entries for five categories for the award ceremony, Mr Victor Kwawukume, Communications Director of Kafli Events Consult, organizers of the event told the GNA on Tuesday.
The event is in collaboration with Professor Komla Amoaku’s Institute of Music and Development. Mr Kwawukume said three honourary awards would also be given out to individuals who have helped in the development of music in the Region. “All is set for the great event…, the first ever award scheme to reward musicians in the Region. “The event is now the talk of town and we are amazed by the number of entries,” he stated.
Mr Kwawukume said the event was to promote Ewe gospel music, discover talents and offer “great entertainment experience” to fans of gospel music. Listed to perform on the gospel extravaganza is Makafui Abitor, Queen of Gospel Music in the Republic of Togo. Mr Kwawukume said the President of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President, Mr Bice 'Obour' Osei Kufuor is among dignitaries who would grace the night.
