Voltarians in Ashanti Region to launch historic festival

Kumasi, Sept. 22, GNA - A traditional festival of the Volta Region, dubbed "Amuza", designed to bring chiefs, elders and people from the Volta Region resident in the Ashanti region together will be launched on Sunday, October 8 in Kumasi this year.

Togbe Fiti the fifth, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional Area will launch the festival that would be attended by prominent chiefs from the region to discuss cultural and socio-economic development issues. Togbe S.K. Fugah, Chairman of the Voltarian Co-ordinating Council (VCC) disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Wednesday.

He said the event was historic because it was the first of its kind to be organized outside the Region.

Togbe Fugah said activities planned for the festival included discussions and lectures on reconciliation, progress and problems on development projects, cultural drumming, dancing and display of indigenous dishes from the Region.

He said the festival would be used as an avenue to educate Voltarians outside the Region of their cultural values, norms, beliefs and the need to contribute towards development projects in their communities.
