Daddy Lumba recorded his first album in Germany
A video has surfaced online allegedly showing the first-ever music recording studio of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
In the TikTok video sighted by GhanaWeb on September 29, 2025, some fans of the late highlife musician were seen visiting the home of his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, in Germany.

During their time with Akosua Serwaa, she took the fans to see the studio where Lumba first began his music career.
Inside the room were several pieces of equipment that formed the backbone of his early music journey.
Items such as a sound mixer, preamps, a piano, a computer, and other essential studio gear were still in place.
On one side of the studio, shelves were neatly stacked with compact discs (CDs).
Also, an old photo of the late Daddy Lumba with Akosua Serwaa, an infant, and another woman was also seen at the studio.

This video piped out not long after Serwaa broke her silence on her husband’s passing.
In a video that went viral on September 2, 2025, she expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for the overwhelming support shown to her family since the musician’s death.
“Hi Ghanaians, my friends and my country. I thank you all very much for your love, support, and above all, for your contribution during these hard times. Thank you,” she said in a mixture of English and Dutch.
Daddy Lumba’s music journey began in secondary school, where he formed his first band called ‘Lumba Brothers’ with his friends.
After moving to Germany in 1983, Daddy Lumba teamed up with his friend Ernest Nana Acheampong.
Their collaboration produced the first Lumba Brothers album, ‘Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu’ in 1989.
Ghana lost one of its most cherished musical icons, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
