The Editor of Xzibitgh.com Nana Kwame Buabeng has stated that Ghanaian Comedians’ acts of entertaining their audience cannot be compared to their Nigerian counterparts’ performances of thrilling audience anytime they mount the comedy stage.

According to him, Ghanaian comedians do not come close to that of Nigerian comedians when it comes to comedy.

The Ghanaian comedy sector has received lots of backlash from the public for not performing to the satisfaction of their audience.

Asked if the Ghanaian comedians have taken over from Nigerian dominance on Ultimate E-Review hosted by Naa Klordey Odonkor on Saturday he explained that there is a huge gap between the two.

‘In my opinion, we are nowhere closer to the Nigerian comedy, if you look at the Nigerian comedy and compare it to that of Ghana, there is a very (very) big gap, looking at the comedy industry of Nigeria they have created a lot of great stars, you can talk about Alibaba, Gordon, Basketmouth and the likes.

These guys are making real monies as international brands, as compared to Ghanaian like DKB who is not very well recognised in Ghana’.

‘If you take to the streets, it will surprise you to know that just about 4% of people may know him,’ he claimed.

He remarked that though there are lots of comedians in Ghana, the entertainment industry is not properly structured to bring them on board as well as the best in them.

‘Practically our entire creative industry is some way, it’s not properly structured as compared to the Nigerian people.

They have a comedy Association; they are a team actually pushing themselves up. There is no proper talent hunts for young guys in Ghana,’ he stated.

Mr. Buabeng expressed worry that majority of Ghanaian do not regard comedy.

‘People don’t regard comedy, we don’t even know the kind of talents we have, its somehow confusing,’ he observed.
