Tema-based music group T-Brand has distanced itself from ongoing supremacy battle between musicians from Tema and Accra.
The group, made up Aligiri Evans and Apasenure S. Hughes, said it only does music and nothing more.
According to T-Brand, it does not indulge in any form of competition with other musicians because it does not believe such “unnecessary fights” will help them as young talents.
“We are from Tema but we are not part of any team fighting other musicians on the other side for supremacy. We hang out with any musician friend, irrespective of where the person comes from, the same way we feature other artistes. And we won’t urge other musicians to engage each other on that level because it won’t help the industry. Let us rather unite. Unity is strength. When we unite we can do better than relying on our individual strengths as musicians,” T-Brand said.
T-Brand has been underground for some time now but the duo has gradually pushed for higher heights.
The group started in 2008 in the northern part of the country but members are currently based in Tema. Its first single, ‘Boogie Down’, featured Stay J and is still enjoying airplay.
They said they get inspiration to sing, from their daily struggles. Their latest love song titled ‘Medo’ features 2013 MOBO Awards nominee Atumpan. The group hopes the song would get the needed attention to break barriers in Ghana’s music scene.
The group believes it has something to offer Ghana’s entertainment industry with its latest song, hence Ghanaians should watch out for them. ‘Medo’ is recorded by Mix Masta Gaze and has good rhythm.
The duo is currently in the studio working on their upcoming single ahead of its album this year. They plan to feature R2Bees’ Mugeez on one of their songs but they are yet finalize that deal.
The young men started music some five years ago, but now is the time they have decide to go commercial. “We have gone through a lot of difficulties before coming out and we promise nothing but the best and nothing is going to separate us,” group members said. “We have several hit songs at our disposal but we are dropping the singles now till the final album by the end of the year.”
“We thank every individual who has helped in any way to make our song a success, we will continue to do good music,” they said.
While Apasenure Hughes is a student of University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, Aligiri Evans is a businessman.
